AWT’s 17th Annual Wine Tasting & Scholarship Fundraiser Breaks Scholarship Donation Records!
On Thursday, November 15, Advancing Women in Technology honored an amazing group of women in technology.
The 17th annual Wine Tasting Gala and Fundraiser featured the presentation of AWT’s 2018 college scholarships as well as recognition awards for technology industry Rising Stars and Outstanding Executives. A record-breaking $105,000 was given out in scholarships to 14 outstanding young women. In addition, the evening’s attendees have already made an impressive start on next year’s scholarships by contributing over $20,000 during the evening’s “fund-a-thon.”
Festivities at Celebrations by Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa included wine tasting, a light dinner and a fantastic silent auction offering the opportunity to bid on items such as electronics, weekend getaways, sporting events and gourmet gift baskets. AWT awarded 14 scholarships to women studying technology at California colleges and universities. Scholarship applicants had to meet several criteria which included having a GPA of 3.0 or greater, studying in the technology field and attending a California college or university. AWT was also pleased to recognize women currently working in the field of technology including 55 Rising Stars and Outstanding Executives.
Since 2007, the AWT Charitable Foundation has awarded over $350,000 in scholarships to women studying at California colleges in pursuit of a career in technology. AWT’s scholarship awards are made possible through the generous support of members, community and industry sponsors.
